Shoulder Pain
Most shoulder pain falls into four different categories.
Rotator cuff related pain, instability, osteoarthritic related pain and a stiff shoulder.
ROTATOR CUFF RELATED PAIN.
The rotator cuff is a group of four muscles and their tendons that aid in the stability and movement of the shoulder joint.
These can commonly be aggravated by repetitive overhead activities, throwing sports or through trauma. Age related rotator cuff pain is also regularly seen.
Physiotherapy aids in restoring normal function and control to the shoulder through exercise, managing the aggravating factors initially and manual therapy.
FROZEN/STIFF SHOULDER.
Can be caused by previous surgery, injury. People with type 2 diabetes and/or thyroid problems can be more susceptible to developing symptoms.
Alternatively symptoms can develop without and previous problems.
Shoulder movement becomes increasingly restricted with associated pain.
Treatment options vary depending on individual presentation and history.
